Marina update November 2022

Project workshops were held on 12 and 13 October 2022 for the Ayrshire Growth Deal Cumbrae Transit Marina Project. The purpose of the workshops was to update the community on progress developing plans for the proposed marina.

The current proposal allows for approximately 50 berths, with additional provision for one larger vessel. The marina will be accessed from the existing pier (the future of which is still to be confirmed) and will be sheltered by the new flood defences.

Some milestones for the development of the project are listed below. These are indicative only and open to change as the project progresses

Milestone:
  • Programme business case submission - April-23
  • Outline business case approval by government - May-23
  • Completion of detailed design - Apr-24
  • Completion of technical design - Jan-25
  • Internal sign-off of final business case - Jul-25
  • Final business case approval by Ayrshire Economic Joint Committee - Aug-25
  • Construction / project start - Sep-25
Work is ongoing to develop the outline business case for Ayrshire Growth Deal submission and to progress the Crown Estate Scotland Boat-Based Tourism Fund investment case. North Ayrshire Council will continue to work with the community to develop an operating model for the marina.

You can find out more by opening the slides that were presented at the workshops. The slides include outline costs that are intended to be for guidance only until further work can be carried out on the detailed and technical design and the site and ground investigation.
