Cancer care support

North Ayrshire Cancer Care (NACC) provide a transport service for anyone on the Island of Cumbrae that has appointments at the Beatson in Glasgow or Cross House for scanning or treatment. They will meet people at the Largs Ferry terminal and bring them back to the Ferry. Their number is 01294 552223. NACC also give advice and help on counselling.

For anyone on the island who cannot use the bus to get to the Ferry and needs local transport contact Keith Hammond on 07554 046812.

Anyone needing information on specific types of cancer, emotional support, treatment and side effects, work, finances and practical support should ring Macmillan Cancer Support on 0808 808 00 00. They can be contacted anytime.

Fiona Smith is a researcher looking at the 'non-clinical' support available after a cancer condition has been diagnosed and before a program of treatment has started. At the moment she is doing a scoping exercise looking at needs and what is available to meet those needs. She has already visited other islands. Should anyone wish to chat with her she can be reached on 07824 596406.
