XLCC, the company behind the proposed cable factory at Hunterston came to the island to hold a drop-in question and answer session on 24 January 2023.
The factory will be one of the largest buildings in Scotland, and the tower it includes will be 185m tall, the tallest structure in Scotland by a long way. It will be clearly visible from Cumbrae. The factory will be running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with ships docking to collect completed cables.
The drop-in session was an important opportunity to learn more about the cable factory and to raise any concerns with XLCC.
